The soup du jour was an exqusite puree of mushrooms with a great, meaty flavor. The beef filet with foie gras and black truffle sauce was mouth watering. The staff was very attentive but not pushy. Food and service quality was comporable to the best restaurants in Houston.

Pinons is a place you must go when in Aspen. We had two couples and we each order something different. We also had the calamari for an appetizer and it was splendid. The steak was definitely prime.

Pinons is known as one of the top three restaurants in town, a town where it's difficult to get a bad meal. The ambience is typical of Aspen....casual (I wore jeans.) but well-turned out, lively, a sophisticated looking crowd. We were 6 people & our entrees ranged from a vegetarian plate for me...beautifully presented & utterly delicious, to a pasta dish with squid ink, prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes, etc. to roasted breast of chicken, to macademia nut-encrusted ahi tuna, to a huge piece of roasted pork, sharable, although my husband managed to finish it. With each entree except the pasta, a wonderful sampling of vegetables graced the plate. No one ordered an appetizer, a good thing since the portions were more than ample. Pinons lived up to its stellar reputation & no one was disappointed. Prices are comparable to New York.
