National Register of Historic Places for Aspen, Colorado

 

Aspen, Colorado was once inhabited by the Ute Indians. This city was known for being a mining town, specifically a silver vein. Aspen lies in Pitkin County. The Aspen, Colorado houses are mostly of Victorian style.

Aspen is encompassed by Red Mountain, Smuggler Mountain and Aspen Mountain.The railroad came to Aspen during 1877.

John Denver and Bill Joy are associated with Aspen, Colorado. Other famous Aspen people were Jerome B. Wheeler, Davis H. Waite and Andre Roch. Fred Pfeifer also relocated to the Aspen area.

Aspen, Colorado celebrates the Aspen Music Festival, Janus Jazz Aspen Snowmass June Festival, Aspen Dance Festival, Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration, Aspen Filmfest and the Aspen Academy Screenings.
